The Sugar Free Challenge: 75 days without added sugar

No added sugar, no sweets, no sugary drinks — fruit stays. Here's exactly what counts, what happens to your body week by week, and how to track every clean day.

The rules: what's out, what stays

For 75 days:

  • No added sugar — read the labels; it hides in sauces, breads and "healthy" bars
  • No sweets: cookies, chocolate, pastries, candy
  • No sugary drinks: soda, juices, sweetened coffees and teas
  • No alcohol
  • Fresh, whole fruit is allowed
  • Hit your water goal daily

The fruit rule is what makes this sustainable: your sweet tooth gets an answer that comes with fiber, and you're never in a corner with "nothing I can eat."

What happens, week by week

Week 1 — the loud part

Cravings peak around days 3–5, and sugar shows up in ingredients lists you never read before. This is the week the tracker matters most: each checked-off day is a small argument against the craving.

Weeks 2–3 — the flattening

The 3pm crash softens, energy stops spiking and dipping, and food starts tasting sweeter on its own — your palate recalibrating in real time.

Weeks 4–10 — the payoff

This is where people report clearer skin, better sleep, steadier moods and the strange experience of walking past the bakery unbothered. By day 75, "no thanks" is a preference, not a discipline.

How to track it in Slay 75

  1. Pick "Sugar Free" from the ready-made challenges in Slay 75 — the rules above come pre-loaded as daily tasks.
  2. Check off each clean day. The streak dial on your profile is your counter-argument at the dessert table: "I'm 34 days clean" is much harder to break than "I'm trying to eat less sugar."
  3. Watch your completion rates to spot your weak link — for most people it's drinks, not desserts.
  4. Use the breathing tab when cravings hit. A craving lasts about three minutes; the guided 4-7-8 breathing exercise happens to take about the same.
  5. Recruit a friend. Sugar is social — birthdays, offices, brunches. A friend on the same challenge turns every awkward "no cake, thanks" into a shared inside joke.

Stacking it with other challenges

Sugar Free pairs naturally with the Glow Up challenge (which already bans sugary drinks) — many girls run Sugar Free as round one, then graduate to the full glow up. If you want movement in the mix from day one, 75 Soft plus a no-added-sugar edit to its diet task gets you both.
